About the Conference

Theme: Towards a sustainable water future for South Africa

Rising population, ageing infrastructure, climate change and complex water distribution systems are a few issues exacerbating South Africa’s water crisis. The most pressing issue – ageing infrastructure, increases the threat posed by disasters such as floods, results in huge water losses, and, as freshwater resources become strained, creates a heightened risk of water insecurity. By 2030, the demand for water in South Africa is projected to exceed supply by 17%. As Day Zero approaches for many cities the lack of access to clean water will result in economic disruptions, political instability and health risks. Collective action is needed to find viable solutions to the issues plaguing the water sector.

The  Water Infrastructure Asset Management Conference provides a platform for stakeholders to discuss issues in the water sector, to mobilise action and raise investment. The Conference will reflect on ground-breaking innovations, solutions to support governments conservations efforts and strategies to increase private sector investment.
